It was a cold and damp day but Jo and I had a grand time visiting with Probstfield descendents (pictured), as well as Jo selling and my signing ten books. I also joined volunteer Charles Leitheiser for a photo with his John Deer tractor.

Only eight women and one man attended, but Jo still sold and I signed four books. An interesting talk by the School Superintendent about a pending school bond vote preceeded my presentation. Unfortunately,voters did not approve the bond issue. Later that evening I became very ill, and was hospitalized for emergency gall bladder surgery. It was not removed until September 15th, my most memorable birthday gift.

EVENTIDE UNIVERSITY AT THE LINDEN - MOORHEAD

More than twenty people came to my Probstfield talk including a few from Moorhead.. My remarks were well received but no one bought books though some picked up fliers. One gentleman gave me a copy of his German family history. They settled near Sabin with many Germans.

Fifteen people attended my R. M. Probstfield slide presentation. Others may have watched on TV in their rooms. A few asked questions. The Activities Director bought a book for the library and two former faculty colleagues bought copies.

Twenty-some people came to hear my slide presentation about the R. M. Probstfield family. Several ask questions and five with Concordia ties bought copies.

It was a dark and stormy night, but twenty-some people came to my talk about the R. M. Probstfield family at Oakport Farm. I showed slides and read passages illustrating how I used images, letters, and journal entries in writing the book. Cathy Scheibe, a great grand-daughter of Randolph and Catherine Probsfield, shared some entertaining family stories.

I enjoyed speaking about By the Sweat of His Brow to a full house on a frigid winer day. I read several passages from the book and talked about the R. M. Probstfield family and their life as pioneers at Oakport Farm in the Red River Valley. Cathy Scheibe, a great grand-daughter of Randolph and Catherine Probstfield, attended the event.
